Alcohol base, flammable: around 75-80 % vol. Keep away from flames and from any source of heat. Take care near lit candles — spray at a distance, never directly onto a flame.

Avoid contact with the eyes and the mucous membranes, and with broken skin. For application to the skin, test on a small area if the skin is sensitive (citrus essential oils can be photosensitising — avoid direct sun exposure after application).

Keep out of reach of children. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, reactive skin: as a precaution, limit use on the skin and favour diffusion into the space.

Legal status: an eau de cologne freely sold in France, in the European Union and in Peru.

What is Agua de Florida (Florida Water)?

How do you use Agua de Florida?

What is the difference between Agua de Florida, Kananga and Citricus?

Three waters, three signatures. The Florida (221 ml) is the classic floral-citrus cologne, balanced and fresh — the reference water of limpia. Is Agua de Florida drinkable?

Agua de Florida carries a double birth. Its commercial formula was born in New York in 1808, registered by the house of Murray & Lanman under the name Florida Water — not in reference to the American state, but to the Spanish florido ("flowered") and to the romantic idea of a floral fountain of youth. An eau de cologne first, a fresh and tonic scent for the handkerchief and the washstand.

But its second life came from elsewhere. From the 19th century onward, the water crossed the Atlantic and travelled south, into the hands of Peruvian curanderos, Amazonian vegetalistas and Caribbean espiritistas, who took it up as a tool of spiritual work. Something in that citrus-floral scent — the freshness, the penetration, the memory of orange blossom — fitted perfectly the grammar of the limpia, the South American energetic cleansing. It became, without any institution decreeing it, the ceremonial water of half a continent.

In the Caribbean it took the same place on the Afro-diasporic side: it is found in Louisiana Hoodoo, Cuban Santería, Puerto Rican Espiritismo — to protect a house, to scent the water offered to the spirits, to cleanse altars, to honour the dead. Agua de Kananga, a denser and sweeter derivative built on the ylang-ylang flower, is traditionally associated there with work with the ancestors and with prosperity; some traditions credit it with an aphrodisiac quality inherited from ylang-ylang's reputation in the Caribbean basin and South-East Asia.

INFUSE offers three waters, three faces of one family:

Agua de Florida is a gesture, not a dosage. External and ceremonial use only. The three waters are used the same way in their general grammar — what changes is the signature each one brings to the gesture.

Agua de Florida — the balancer (221 ml, spray or liquid) The reference. To favour when you want a versatile water — the one that opens, the one that closes, the one that marks the threshold before holding a circle. Spray a fine mist into the air of a room, toward the four directions; pour a few drops into the palms to rub them and pass them over the nape, the temples, the heart. It is the water of every limpia.

Agua de Kananga — the deep one (221 ml, spray or liquid) To keep for grounded and feminine work — ancestor altars, cacao circles, meditations on lineage. Sprinkle the altar or the photographs before work dedicated to the dead, pass some over the palms before holding a dense space. Its sweet roundness carries further, longer; a few drops are enough.

Agua Citricus — the solar one (211 ml, spray or liquid) To bring out on heavy days, after an argument, a grief, an energetic load too dense. Spray widely into the space — corners, thresholds, windows — and inhale from the palms. Its citrus liveliness sweeps away what weighs and lets the light in; a good ally for difficult mornings and for starting again after a storm.

For all the bottles — shared gestures:

To purify a space. Spray a fine mist into the air, toward the four directions, or sprinkle with the fingertips. You can pass some over thresholds, corners, the altar. The air changes; you breathe better.

On the body (the basic gesture). Pour a few drops into the palms, rub to wake the scent with the warmth, inhale deeply, then pass the hands a few centimetres from the skin: from the crown of the head to the nape, then along the body, as if combing and smoothing the field. At the temples, the nape, the heart, before holding a circle or a meditation.

The breath (soplo). A traditional gesture of the curanderos, for experienced practitioners: the water is taken into the mouth then projected as a fine mist onto the body or the objects, joining the force of the breath to the scent. To be kept for those who know the gesture and its intention.

To open and close a ritual. A sprinkling at the beginning to cleanse and mark the threshold, another at the end to close and freshen. It is the oldest use: the water that opens, the water that closes again.

For the tools. Some is passed over candles before lighting them, over crystals, pendulums, the objects of a working, to purify them.

A bearing, not a rule: keep the gesture sober. A few sprays carry far — Agua de Florida works by the rightness of the intention, not by the quantity.
